Our application protocol is designed to allow everyone to get a good result, perfect for do it yourselfer
Online videos from our website will give you equally important information.
Optimum performance is achieved by using the right combination of products, surface preparation and application procedures.
The surface to be treated must be dry, sound, with no traces of oil or laitance, well prepared prior to application.
Clean and degrease your surface, Eliminate moss and algae with ARCAMOSS.
If the substrate is very porous or friable, crumbling or powdery, apply one coat of ARCAFIX and let it dry 24 hours then apply the primer for non porous surface.
Maximum temperature between 5 and 25°C. Ideal between 15 and 20°C
Cracks:
For all active cracks / joints embed mesh into the primer for non-porous surface.
In presence of large cracks over a large surface area, a leveling screed or tile cement adhesive + fiber glass such as ARCAFIBER must be applied
If the support does not have expansion joints there is no need to make new ones
For Anhydrite or painted surface (non porous): Sand the surface with grain 60 ,vacuum
• Precaution:
Floor heating: It is important to stop floor heating 48 hours before the application
Reactivate floor heating 72hours after of the finalized application
On all porous substrates such as wood, concrete, plaster, plasterboard, chipboard, screed, reinforced concrete, MDF, brick, breeze block apply directly the primer for porous surface for adhesion. - drying time= 1-2 hours
For all non-porous substrates such as tiles, laminated floor, CTBX, ... you will need to apply the primer for non porous surface for adhesion - (see below complete application procedures on tiles) drying time= 12 hours
/!Caution: on all exotic wood, plywood, marine ply in order to avoid tanin rise (brown stains) apply an oil-based paint or 2 coats of Highprotect varnish (12 hours drying per coat) and then apply the non porous primer.
Apply the adhesive primer with a roller.
Tiled FLOOR (non porous):
Treatment of a tiled surface is mandatory to avoid the specter of joints across Arcascreed
After applying the primer for non porous surface, there are 2 options:
First option: Fill the joints with tile adhesive, tighter than powdered glues, 2 hours after, fill with tile adhesive on all surface (2.5kg/m² total)- (1mm thickness) 12 hours drying time ( then sand with 120 papersand if needed) apply directly Arcascreed powder + coloured resin (you do not need to apply the primer for porous surface on the tile adhesive)
Second option: If the stand height allows, we recommend after applying the primer for non porous surface to spread from 2 to 5 mm self-leveling screed then apply primer for porous surface.
a) How to colour the resin:
Stir all the contents of the colorant bottle, liquid pigment (2a) into the resin bottle (2b) = coloured resin
Sedimentation can appear at the bottom of the liquid pigment bottle (2a), to avoid this, shake generously and pour the products back and forth from one container (2a) to another (2b) until removing all pigments at the bottom of the liquid pigment bottle
b) Preparation of powder (2c) + Coloured resin: Prepare the mixture by incorporating the powder (2c) in a proportion of 3 kg in 1 kg of resin.
Example if you use 300gr powder. you will need to mix it with 100gr resin
Always pour powder in resin.
Mix manually or mechanically at very low speed until you obtain a homogeneous paste free of lumps
Kindly note that all our kits (2m², 5m², 10m²) are calculated for 2 coats of product.
example with a 5m² kit :
1st coat = 5m²
2nd coat= 5m²
a) Application of 1st coat
At 20°C the product has up to 4 hours working time
Using a trowel or spatula
This coat has no effect on the final look
This implies a thickness of 1 mm or 1kg / m² for each layer
The hardening takes 1-2 hours depending on the substrate and ventilation.
A visual inspection is sufficient to evaluate drying
b)Application of 2nd coat
At this stage, you should have about half the amount provided.
When 1st coat is dry apply directly the second coat.
Apply this second coat with random gestures made with a relatively smooth movement.
This gesture influences the final result (grain effect, nuanced or structured etc.)
When 2nd coat is dry (3-4 hours) you will need to tighten the pores with a clean trowel (angle 30°)
- Caution: for all light colours you will need to use a plastic trowel (not stainless steel- the floats stainless revealing gray marks)
c) Sanding:
After 24 hours of drying time, Arcascreed is much harder.
Sand the surface with a # 120-150 grit sandpaper, clean and vaccuum the surface thoroughly
A pronounced sanding will produce a floor with less material effects.
Warning: high speed sanding with fine abrasives, “burns” the surface by darkening the colour.
Apply the pore filler everywhere, with a roller, only 1 coat - 200ml for 2m², 500ml for 5m², 1 liter for 10m² - Avoid excess thickness - Substrate must absorb the product.
Drying time = 12 hours - Do not apply varnish before complete drying
After 12 hours of drying, apply 2 coats of the protective layer of varnish (minimum 1 hour drying time per coat) on the same day.
Stir the varnish before implementation.
Applied with a roller.
Never sand before applying the varnish.
3 coats can be necessary depending on the substrate porosity and desired protection (The 3rd varnish coat will have to be applied 12 hours after 2nd coat).
In 72 hours, the film is completely dry, but the oxygenation application hardening within 14 days.
Do not wet the surface before 7 days. Or dry immediately with cloth, towel during those 14 days of drying
(You can use your showers, bathrooms after 2-3 days of drying but you will need during those 14 days to dry immediatly with cloth, towel)
Never cover with carpet before drying. /!Caution: If there is standing water, use HighProtect Varnish.
Never add water into resin or powder
After implementation of the material the mortar must be protected from wind, sun and frost during hardening.
Clean tools immediately after use with water before hardening
Wait 20 days before using cleaning detergent
A beton cire floor is maintenned daily exactly like a tile floor with black soap, soapy water, with or without brightening agent.
Allow to cure for a minimum of 24 hours prior to foot traffic access and 7 days cure at 20°C prior to exposure to chemicals.
Lower temperatures will extend the curing time.
